Johnny's Story

"It means the world that I can put out a release and be proud, knowing it's doing good."

                                                             - Johnny Chattell

A musician for over 40 years, Johnny has been quietly honing his craft while playing with various groups around Cheshire, however in 2019, everything changed.

After being diagnosed with cancer amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic, Johnny turned to his writing to help him cope, penning over 20 new songs covering a range of topics and emotions. Good news was soon to come though, as he was given the all clear in June 2020 after going into remission.

Johnny's resolve would be tested though, as his beloved wife Dinah was diagnosed with a brain tumour not long after. A resilient and brave woman, Dinah fought through many painful rounds of treatment throughout the year. Sadly on August 17th 2020, Dinah lost her battle.

Johnny continued writing and playing in her memory, and came together with Dan Hopwood at Pluto Music to record an album of songs in order to raise money in Dinah's memory. The first of these songs, Who's the One, was released on all online record stores on the 6th of November, with the album following on the 27th of November 2020.

With a CD Release that followed, Johnny worked tirelessly to raise as much money as possible for The Christie Hospital in Manchester, and Leighton Hospital in Cheshire, where Dinah received such excellent care, and by January 2021, he had raised an astonishing six thousand pounds for these two charities.

Now Johnny is back with his follow up album "Lifemaker"
